Mmakgodumo Cultural Festival, an event where tradition, creativity and community spirit come together in Kanye, is scheduled for October 25, 2025.

This weekend’s event marks the 10th edition of the festival since its inception, promising to be a vibrant showcase of Ngwaketse tradition and cultural pride. Bathoen Trust secretary, Taolo Mogobe, emphasised the event’s mission , which he said it is to preserve and uphold Botswana’s rich cultural heritage, especially that of the Bangwaketse.

“This year’s theme, ‘Ngwao Lore Seikokotlelo’, reflects a new commitment to learning diverse aspects of Ngwaketse tribe-ensuring that their traditional customs, music and crafts are passed down to younger generations,” he told a media briefing.
