Following social media uproar over the reigning Miss Botswana, Anicia Gaothuse's recent wardrobe, Miss Botswana team has acknowledged there is a need for improvement.

Since her crowning in March 2024, Gaothusi has come under scrutiny with her choice of clothes. Things took a turn for the worst this week when Gaothusi showed up at the Botswana Olympics team welcoming ceremony wearing a white two-piece garment.

“The Miss Botswana Organization has taken note of the valuable feedback shared by Batswana regarding the wardrobe choices for Miss Botswana 2024 Anicia Gaothusi,” Miss Botswana communicated through a statement.

The statement further highlighted that the voices of Batswana play a crucial role in the beauty industry hence why they have decided to take note of the concerns of the pageant's supporters.

“We acknowledge the concerns raised and assure you that we are taking immediate steps to address these issues. Our team is working closely with designers, stylists and Gaothusi herself to make the necessary arrangements that align with the values and expectations of Batswana,” the statement further clarified.

Miss Botswana pointed out that not only is it imperative to hear the cries of Batswana, it is a cause for concern as the beauty industry is all about looking elegant at all times and not just a pretty face.

“The Miss Botswana pageant is a platform that not only showcases beauty and talent, but also embodies the rich cultural heritage of our beloved country. We recognize that wardrobe plays a significant role in how the queen is perceived,” the statement read.

As Gaothusi continues with her tenure, Miss Botswana has pledged to support her in all aspects and give her a befitting term as the Miss Botswana 2024.
