Kasane Colon Cancer and culture exchange event.
The founder of Mr/Ms Culture & Heritage Botswana Pageant Trust, Millicent Shunda, said this year’s event was aimed at raising awareness about colon cancer while also promoting cultural exchange. The event, which was graced by different healthcare organisations sought to educate and engage the community in a meaningful way about colon cancer. Although the turnout was not as high as expected, Shunda said the occasion was still a significant step towards spreading awareness and preserving Botswana’s rich cultural heritage. “The primary objective of the event was to raise awareness about colon cancer, a disease that affects thousands of people worldwide. Through informative talks, pamphlets, and interactive sessions, attendees were provided with valuable knowledge about the disease, its symptoms, and available treatment options.
The event also emphasised the significance of regular screening and encouraged individuals to take proactive steps towards their health,” said Shunda. In addition to raising awareness about colon cancer, Shunda stated that the event also celebrated Botswana’s diverse cultural heritage. She said they held cultural exchange activities to showcase the country’s rich traditions, customs, and artistic expressions
