Winter is well and fully upon us, and blocked noses, hacking coughs and general pains are daily conditions we have to live with at this time of the year. In fact, such discomforts are as common and easily identifiable as the theme song for the RB1 news bulletin! MMEGI Correspondent, Desmond Lesetedi, speaks to Stella Tawana, Director of Health Services at the University of Botswana, on the annoyance that is the winter bug

MMEGI: What is a common cold?

Tawana: A common cold, commonly known as flu, is a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract (nose and throat). There are over 100 viruses that can cause the common cold, with the rhinovirus being the most common.
