Car wash causes Council headaches

MAHALAPYE: A tug of war has erupted between the Mahalapye Sub-District Council and a local businessman regarding the illegal operation of car wash businesses mushrooming in the small densely populated village.

Businessman, Buti Vos, has accused the council of sabotage of his car wash because they allow unlicensed operators to compete with him. This is done in the eyes of the authorities, he alleges.

Things turned worse recently when the council bye-law officers confiscated the equipment of the illegal operators and later withdrew their charges and gave back the equipment to the unlicensed operators.
