We greet you and deliver this solidarity message on behalf of President of the Botswana National Front Comrade, Duma Boko, who is also the leader of opposition in Parliament and the entire leadership of the party. We are delegated by the BNFYL, led by Comrade Makatane, who is here present.
One may wonder why leaders of the BNFYL travel over 2,200kms to deliver a solidarity message to the YCLSA. The relationship between BNF and SACP is grounded on two premises. Firstly, the two parties are historical fraternal partners. The historical relationship was itself based on the commonality of ideological perspectives. It is for these reasons, comrades, that we find ourselves here today in Cape Town delivering a solidarity message as part of our internationalist objective.
Whilst celebrating milestones in inclusivity, with notably P5 billion awarded to vulnerable groups, the report sounds a 'siren' on a dangerous and growing trend: the ballooning use of micro-procurement.
