Let’s monitor our children

The nation is still reeling in shock after five minors drowned in Mosope River in Moshupa last week. The eldest of them is said to have been doing Standard Three while the youngest was at pre-school. The drowning incident made headlines not because it is the first of its kind, but due to the fact that the children were all related.

Children drown every rainy season because they would sneak out and go swimming even those who are not familiar with the art of swimming.

There has also been reports of children who drowned while swimming in the other parts of the country. Also, we had reports of some children who died while others got lost attempting to go to their parents from boarding schools. Another disturbing incidents are those of children always see loitering at shopping malls soliciting for money from strangers.
