"It is a buoyant property market we are in. We are seeing good property prices and they are still going up. We should always be focused on the job. We have to continuously surpass the expectations of our clients," van Vuuren said.
Willem Scholtz co-director of Homenet Botswana noted that the market has bounced back with great returns and rapid growth from last year's slow-down.
"The market is quite exciting. Our customers demand better and better service from us and if you manage to offer that you are rewarded," he said.
He explained that Batswana, contrary to popular belief, are interested in investing in real estate. "It is not true that Batswana are only interested in spending. We are seeing a lot of young professionals looking to enter into the market," explained Scholtz.
Many commentators at the gathering lamented the high interest rates as the major factor impeding new entrants into the property market. They however urged new entrants not to despair noting that property ownership is the key to real economic independence. The Monday evening ceremony dubbed 'Dress Up' was a casual portion in an otherwise extensive programme consisting of workshops, presentations by prominent speakers and other initiatives aimed at improving the performance of the company's staff. The hosting of the annual conference is usually rotated among countries, and this year it is held in Botswana under Homenet Botswana.
