Global Expo Botswana, the country’s premier international business-to-business (B2B) event that is designed to facilitate trade, investment and knowledge exchange, is back.

Gaborone will take centre stage again as the capital hosts the annual Global Expo Botswana (GEB2025) from October 8-11, 2025 under the theme, ‘Unlocking Botswana’s potential: Partnerships for Sustainable Growth’. According to the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), who are the hosts of the exposition, this year’s event will serve as a platform for participants to explore profitable business and joint venture opportunities. At its core, the BITC has highlighted that GEB2025 will be more than an exhibition as it is a call to action.

The investment promotion agency noted that the event will highlight the importance of partnerships in driving sustainable development—linking government vision, private sector ambition, and community needs. "This year’s focus on innovation and investment will connect Botswana’s dynamic entrepreneurs with global investors, creating opportunities for groundbreaking ideas to flourish," a statement from BITC stated. The annual Expo brings together industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, policy makers, and innovators from across the world. Over the years, it has grown into a powerful platform for showcasing opportunities in Botswana and connecting local businesses to global markets. In 2023, the exposition also featured the inaugural European Union-Botswana Business Forum.

Previously, the Expo had attracted 200 exhibitors from several countries including Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, India, Indonesia, Swaziland, Namibia, and Kenya—making it one of the region’s most diverse and inclusive business gatherings. According to the organisers, the event will also place a strong emphasis on skills development and job creation, ensuring that Botswana’s workforce is equipped for the future. “By promoting shared knowledge and fostering collaboration across sectors, GEB2025 aims to support inclusive growth that lasts.” As Botswana continues to position itself as a competitive player on the international stage, GEB2025 will serve as a gateway for regional and international cooperation. It reflects a growing commitment to building a globally connected, resilient, and forward-looking economy.

But without evidence, they risk becoming a toxic distraction from...
