Construction underway at second copper mine

Construction of the country's second and potentially largest copper mine is underway, 80 kilometres southwest of Maun where its developers expect commercial production to begin in the first half of next year.

When operational, Boseto Copper Project - which is owned by Discovery Metals Limited (DML) - will pump out 35, 000 tonnes per annum initially as an open pit mine before going underground.

DML geologists expect Boseto to go underground within three to five years. The mine will also produce one million ounces of silver.
