UCCSA choir festival this weekend

The festival will feature performances by esteemed U.C.C.S.A choirs from five countries, being Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. "It will be the first time the UCCSA choirs from these five countries meet to perform under one roof. The choir performances have always been up to Country/Synod level," U.C.C.S.A Music Development Convener, Omphemetse Chimbombi explained.Gospel music lovers will be treated to performances by a number of choirs including Broadhurst Choir (Botswana), Trinity Church Choir (Botswana), Bulawayo Choir (Zimbabwe), Kwa-Zulu Natal Regional Choir (South Africa), North-West Regional Choir (South Africa), Teemane Regional Choir (South Africa), Gordonia Regional Choir, Lephoi Regional Choir (Botswana), Lesoso Regional Choir (Botswana), Bojanala Regional Choir (Botswana), Kolobeng Regional Choir (Botswana), and Moeding Regional Choir, (Botswana). "The theme for the event is, 'Singing Glory To God, for The Lights To Shine.' As we minister to through music, our aim is to Glorify the Lord's name as well as make a difference in the lives of his people," Chimbombi said.
She further explained that the event is amongst a series of activities that the church embarks on in an effort to have an impact in the communities within which it exists."The church has had various projects that drive this theme through its local branches in various projects. Some of those projects that were executed through music ministry include, the U.C.C.S.A Broadhurst choir donating P50, 000.00 to the Botswana National Football Team from composition, recording and sale of an album entitled "Di ile Dipitse", a song that brought a sense of hope in many Batswana, U.C.C.S.A Gaborone choirs participating in the annual Mainline Churches Festival that raises funds for donating to various needy groups around Botswana, and the Broadhurst Choir's recent participation in a fundraising concert for Masiela Trust Fund in Gaborone," Chimbombi said.
