Impressive night of culture at Ditshupo

It was a night to remember at Fairgrounds Holdings' Ditshupo Hall last Saturday when the continents of Africa, Asia, South America and Europe came together to celebrate their cultures. The third FOBEX cultural day showcased culture at its best in food, fashion and music or entertainment.

Women dressed exquisitely in traditional outfits, leteisi for Batswana women and beaded jewellery.  Nigerians and Ghanaians also coloured the night with their multi-printed dresses, accompanied by the beautiful headpieces for women and men in their robes.

The gele as the headpiece is called in the Yoruba culture is a very important part of the women's attire in Nigeria.When unfolded, it usually looks like a small plain rectangular sheet. Interestingly, it can be folded or tied in a variety of ways.
