The Shadow of God International Ministry (SOGIM) has donated walking aids and crutches to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital has become the first church to respond to the governments appeal for mobility aids to assist patients in need.

The donation comes as the hospital intensifies its campaign to recover crutches, walking frames and other mobility aids previously issued to patients but not returned after use.

The initiative, dubbed the Shared Responsibility Campaign, seeks to address shortages of mobility aids by encouraging former patients to return equipment they no longer require, allowing the hospital to redistribute it to other patients.

Speaking during the handover, one of the church’s leader, Prophet Daniel Morupisi, emphasised the importance of faith-based organisations playing an active role in addressing healthcare challenges within their communities.

He said the donation demonstrated the church’s commitment to supporting public healthcare services, while calling for closer collaboration between religious institutions and healthcare providers.

Hospital management and the Hospital Advisory Committee welcomed the donation, commending the ministry for becoming the first church to heed the appeal.

They expressed hope that the gesture would encourage other churches, organisations and members of the public to support the campaign.

Meanwhile, Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital continues to appeal to patients and families in possession of unused mobility aids to return them, as part of efforts to ensure that the limited equipment available benefits as many patients as possible.
