BCA Drills Northern Primary Schools On Cricket

FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) has started a four-week training programme for primary schools in the north. BCA northern coordinator, Clement Chipanga said participants from 19 government-aided primary schools have registered for the training.

He said they will teach the trainees the basics of the game such as bowling, bating and fielding. "We have engaged children from various primary schools in Francistown where we will conduct specialised coaching on the aspect of the game," said Chipanga.

He explained that the idea is to create a wide pool of talent to be nurtured to feed the national team. "Our target is to come up with a development team by August 2010 and have as many teachers undergoing courses of this nature.
