Khama defends Kgosi's angry comments

In a Facebook live interview with The Argus Online, former president Ian Khama has strongly defended Isaac Kgosi with regards to the angry comments that the former spy boss uttered during his arrest last week Tuesday.

During the arrest, Kgosi angrily threatened the government. He said, “You guys are driving me to do things I never thought I will do. I’m telling you. I am going to topple the government, I’m telling you. I worked for this f*k*ng government for so long. But o tla o dira mas*p*. For so long! I have never been a criminal”.

This morning Khama told The Argus Online that he omitted to ask Kgosi about the threats he made.

“Those words, which were reported, I heard about them. But in two meetings that I have had with him, I did

not ask him about those words,” said Khama.

The former president further commented, “Topple could mean toppling. Boko has been talking about toppling this government for a long time. And previous opposition leaders have always talked about toppling this government. So I don’t know what his intentions were”.

Khama also advocated for Kgosi saying the angry talk must have been just emotions.

“I would imagine he must have been going through a very emotional time. Maybe he used the wrong words. Maybe he was angry. Maybe he lost his temper. You have to put yourself in his situation,” said Khama.
