President Ian Khama will undertake a three-day State Visit to the Republic of Mozambique from May 23-25, 2015, at the invitation of his counterpart the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Felipe Jacinto Nyusi.

Botswana and Mozambique enjoy excellent relations underpinned by close historical ties, which were forged during the liberation struggle in Southern Africa.

The relations were also strengthened by the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1975, following the attainment of independence by Mozambique. In 2004, Mozambique established a resident Diplomatic Mission in Gaborone. Botswana reciprocated by establishing a resident Diplomatic Mission in Maputo in 2012.
