BCP defends poorly attended launch

The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) Lentsweletau-Mmopane launch was characterised by low attendance over the weekend in Kopong.

Despite the constituency being very vast and densely populated, attendance was disappointing. Despite the poor attendance, the BCP national campaign manager Thapelo Ndlovu thought otherwise. “There are a lot of people. We are satisfied with the numbers,” Ndlovu said. He said the constituency is very sparse and the numbers they got on Saturday were satisfactory.

“Looking at all the factors this is a good number. Another factor is that there are few children and most of the people here are voters from this constituency,” he said. Ndlovu reasoned that this constituency is one of those, where the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has been controlling forever. He said the BCP has made some serious inroads in Lentsweletau-Mmopane.
