Orapa United was founded in October 2010 by concerned citizens of Orapa, a town located in the Central District of Botswana, who were concerned about the quality/standard of football in the region.

 

The concerns were caused by fragmented human resources, lack of sponsorship, unsustainability of teams in the premier and first division, and the creation of an unhealthy scenario of competition among the Orapa community.
