Weather worries Mpote ahead of E. Guinea visit

Zebras coach, Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote is worried about the climatic conditions with the team set to fly to Equatorial Guinea later this month for the first of the two ties in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 qualifiers.

The Zebras are set to take on Equatorial Guinea away in Malabo on March 24 before the return leg on March 28 in Francistown. Speaking at a media briefing held in Gaborone on Friday, Mpote said the technical team is aware of the unfavourable weather conditions that await the Zebras in that country. He, however, said the team will leave Gaborone earlier to acclimatise to the conditions on the other side of the continent.

The Zebras will depart for Morocco on March 13 for a training camp before leaving for Malabo on March 18. “It would help us to train and prepare under rainy conditions because we might play in the rain. In terms of preparations, we will prepare that side.
