The games were part of the Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) national league. BDF defeated Mafolofolo 3-2 (25-17,20-25, 25-18, 25-27 and 15-11). BDF coach, Daniel Baoki, told SportMonitor that hot conditions made the game difficult for players and to make matters worse, officials failed to grant players much needed rehydration breaks. Baoki mentioned that when it is too hot, players cannot give out their best more especially women ones. He said preparations ahead of the game went according to plan, although some of the players such as Jestinah Tumagole and Sesha Matswiri went into the game against Mafolofolo with some injuries. The other thing is that I do not have a large pool of players. At one point, Chada Majaha went down, during that moment, I was worried,” he said.
When claims of such gravity are made, especially by a sitting Assistant Minister they cannot be brushed aside, delayed, or treated as routine political noise. Even the Ombudsman has confirmed receipt of a report from a political party and a review of these complaints is now underway. That is a necessary first step. But it is only the beginning. The seriousness of the allegations demands urgency, transparency and clarity. The public is entitled to...
