Olympic Games 200m champion, Letsile Tebogo, has stuck to the idiom, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it’, as he prepares for the 2025 athletics season.

The 2024 World Athletics Track Athlete of the Year has a busy year ahead, with the highlight expected to be the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo in September. Last season, Tebogo competed in the 300m and 400m before shifting focus to his favoured races, the 100m and 200m sprints. In 2024, he stormed to a world 300m best of 30.69 at the Simbine Curro Classic Shoot-Out in Pretoria, South Africa. He went on to set a new Personal Best time in the 400m of 44.29 at the ASA Grand Prix held in Pretoria in March 2024.

Tebogo’s coach, Kebonyemodisa Mosimanyane told MmegiSport that preparations for the 2025 season are going well. He said starting the season with 300m and 400m is strategic as it improves speed endurance and boosts the pace. “We sometimes start the season like that, with 300m and 400m, then move on to the 100m and 200m. This season is no different, we are going for 400m at a race in Australia,” he said. Tebogo has been invited to race at the Maurie Plant Meet, an event, which will kick off the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold events. The event will be in Melbourne, Australia on March 25. Mosimanyane said since they are still at the beginning of the season, they have not finalised plans for the Tokyo World Athletics Championships.
