Acting chair: Showa
Showa is a non-executive director and was thrust into the role following the abrupt resignation of Peter Kesitilwe last week Monday. This followed a tense BFL Annual General Assembly in Palapye which also saw the resignation of chief executive, Bennett Mamelodi. Mamelodi is serving a 30-day notice before he vacates office, with the league advertising his position last week. He could not commit if he will be available to take over the reigns on a substantive basis. "There are still some days left to the invitation closing for me to think conclusively about the way forward," he said. The BFL has faced upheavals in recent years, with former chairperson, Nicholas Zakhem facing mutiny from the shareholders in 2023. However, Zakhem, together with BFL treasurer, Jagdish Shah, fought the matter in court and emerged victorious.
