GABANE: Having already been condemned to the second tier league, Unio Flamengo Santos exited the Orange FA Cup thanks to a last 16 round defeat to Security Systems.

The two teams met at the Gabane United Grounds on Sunday afternoon as Systems ran out 1-0 winners in a tightly contested tie. Both teams were looking for some solace with a Orange FA Cup quarterfinal progression following a tough run in the league. Mpho Kgomo for Santos was the first to have a go at goal as early as the fourth minute but had his half volley shot blocked. Systems' first chance of the tie came on the 11th minute as Mphaphi Chinyepi headed over the bar. The striker came closer on the 24th minute as he controlled a long pass from inside the box and with his weaker left foot, he shot wide of the post.

The Alarm Boys took the lead with a minute to the break as Emmanuel Agyei tapped in from close range. Systems took a 1-0 lead into the break. The home side looked the better of the two at the start of the second half. The pair of Kgomo and Kobamelo Kebaikanye on the flanks caused all sorts of problems for Systems. Kebaikanye, just after the hour mark, forced a brilliant clearance from the keeper. From the free-kick, Arnold Mampori later on shot just over the bar. Despite a series of chances in the tie, the home side went down by a goal. "It was a tough season for us, in all aspects. The team had many struggles and to be knocked out (of the competition) is also not surprising. We have been struggling for the much of the season, some of the issues being administrative while some involved the players. I think we have learnt a lot this season and we can only aim to better ourselves. So I would promise that we will come back a stronger team," said Santos' assistant coach, Thabo 'Booster' Magola.

The teams: Santos: Mike Masule, Phemo Gaborone, Arnorld Mampori, Kao Sekwati, Lesego Ramogonono, Lesego Kebonang, Lone Petros (Tshepo Mbulawa), Ofentswe Tlhalosang (Tumelo Sentle), Tumiso Tshotlego (Thuso Marumo), Kobamelo Kebaikanye, Mpho Kgomo Systems: Maikano Tladinyane, Michael Tinye, Aobakwe Radikolana, Atlasaone Ramothala, Escobar Raditsebe, Morgan Gaseitsiwe (Bokang Rathipana), Shaun Theron, Mphaphi Chinyepi, Gorata Bogale (Tshepo Keselebale), Emmanuel Agyei, Samuel Entsie (Walter Sande)

For patients’ sake gov't, doctors must unite

After weeks of conflict, court battles, and disrupted healthcare services, the promise of talks beginning May 10 offers hope. But this can't be another hollow truce. Both sides must now commit to genuine, good-faith negotiations. The stakes — patients’ lives and public trust in the healthcare system — are too high for half-hearted efforts. The dispute began when doctors, frustrated by what they called 'exploitation' in emergency...
