In the last decade, Botswana has lost some of its finest football players to road crashes. As the country prepares to bid farewell talented defender, Lesenya Ramoraka, Mmegi Sport Staff Writer, MQONDISI DUBE looks back at incidents that have cut short the lives of footballers

Most people were away immersing themselves in the festivities of the Christmas period when news broke that Gaborone United defender, Joseph Phetogo had lost his life in a car accident in 2010.

It was devastating news as ‘Big Joe’ was at the peak of his career having just captained the Reds to a league title the previous season.
