TLOKWENG: As the team continues to tease with relegation, BDF XI stand-in coach, Keikothae ‘Chamlek’ Bothoko, has indicaited that there are a lot of problems within the club setup.

Bothoko could not point fingers as he said the issues can be cited from the club’s top brass, to the coaching and playing personnel. This past Sunday, BDF XI could not move away from the relegation positions after 3-1 defeat to Mochudi Centre Chiefs in a FNB Premiership match played at the Royal Aria Stadium. It was the team’s fourth defeat in the last five games and the 11th in 21 games played thus far. There were clear signs from the first whistle that Chiefs wanted to take control of the match. Magosi were rewarded on the first quarter of an hour as Legend Monyake tapped in Kitso Mangolo’s free kick from close range to give Chiefs the lead. Chiefs thought they had doubled their lead through a Mangolo free-kick on the 27th minute. But the referee pulled back the goal for a foul. Magosi led 1-0 at the break.

The visitors picked where they left off at the start of the second half as Dumisane Kubane was denied by the upright just five minutes in. Magosi eventually went 2-0 on the 55th minute thanks to a Thami Zulu strike. Ronaldo Fortune floored his marker on the wing and with a low cross found Zulu at the far post who tapped into the goal. Pako Gaofose came close to making it three for Chiefs but shot widely when it looked easier to score than miss on the 66th minute. He made up for his miss when Kubane found Gaofose unmarked at the edge of the box and the forward made it 3-0 on the 73rd minute. BDF XI pulled one back on the 83rd minute when Onkemetse Powe played a perfectly placed cross to Oratile Taunyane whose header was saved by the goalkeeper but he benefited from rebound to make it 3-1. Speaking to journalists after the game, Bothoko said: “Our team has a lot of problems. As I see it, the problem is sometimes the players, sometimes is us (coaches) and at times it is the management. Because we can see that things are not going well but we are struggling to do things the correct way.”

Perhaps, the investigations into alleged wrongful acts implicating those supposed to be playing the watchdog role will shed more light into what has happened such that the...
