Sua Flamingoes will rue the rainy weather conditions after they played to a 1-1 draw with VTM FC this past weekend.

The match was originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon. But it was played until early in the second half when the referee decided to call it off because of the wet and unfavorable pitch conditions. At the time, Sua Flamingoes were leading by a goal and the match was then re-scheduled to Sunday morning and kicked off from the beginning. The visitors, who ahead of the weekend had fancied their chances in a five team title race, were leading before the tie was stopped and also scrapped off to be restarted on the next day. Played under soaking conditions on Saturday, the VTM-Flamingoes had kicked off with the visitors on the forefoot. They were eventually rewarded on the 25th minute as goalkeeper, Joseph Gojaamang, failed to deal with a lowly taken shot by Boikobo Osupile to gift Flamingoes the lead.

The goal had given Flamingoes a boost as they looked the better of the two teams until the break. Just before the half time, the conditions in the VTM Arena worsened and cast a doubt if the tie would resume and conclude. When the two teams returned for the last 45 minutes the referee moved to call off the tie just two minutes in due to a unplayable pitch. The game was re-set for Sunday morning at 10am and started from the first minute. The tables looked to have turned on the next day as it was the host who took the lead on the eighth minute. Flamingoes had to battle until the last kick of the tie with Bame Morwalela finding the equaliser for the team as what looked like a three points in bag turned into a point. The team remains on fifth position and five points behind this weekend’s leaders, TAFIC.
