The name Tuduetso Onyadile has been engraved in the golf history books after she became the youngest player to win the annual Botswana Ladies Open Championship last weekend. At the age of 14, Onyadile boasts confidence and expresses herself diligently when dealing with an interview and right in the footsteps of her parents, who are also golfers. Staff Writer, CALISTUS KOLANTSHO reports

Onyadile has always been close to the golf course after being introduced to the sport at a very early age. She was already holding the golf clubs as early as five years old, and she has never looked back.“My parents introduced me to golf at an early age, at around five. I have played other sports at school, such as football, basketball, tennis, and swimming. My main sports have always been golf and swimming, which I have played (golf) at the club level. At 11 years, in 2022, I represented Botswana at the CANA Zone IV swimming championships in Lusaka, Zambia. In January 2025, I was included in the Swimming High Performance Programme, under the auspices of the Botswana Swimming Sport Association (BSSA),” she explains.

Onyadile says her family has always supported her and provided equipment after she outgrew her kid’s golf club and at one point, she used her mother’s clubs. Onyadile is a beneficiary of the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) Zebra Fund, which enables her to buy equipment and pay the coach.
