The newly appointed Zebras head coach, Didier Gomes da Rosa says he is aware of the expectations of him and will try by all means to fulfill the nation's dream of qualifying for the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The French tactician takes over from local gaffer, Mogomotsi 'Teenage' Mpote, who was shown the door recently by the Botswana Football Association (BFA). Speaking today at his introduction, da Rosa said he has watched the national team’s games and has an idea of what to expect. “I watched all the Zebras matches during AFCON qualifiers. I have a very good idea about which players can help us in the national team. “I believe there is a lot of quality in the team,” he said.

The Zebras mentor added that his philosophy mainly starts from building a solid team from the back. However his employers, the BFA, have given him a short term deal which will be subject to extension after evaluation. BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti said da Rosa brings with him a wealth of experience and will help take the local football to greater heights. Letshwiti also said a total of five local coaches will be attached to him as understudies so that in future they can use their expertise to take local football to the next level.
