Botswana's latest football export and Zebras full back, Benson Mangolo, has signed for Tanzania's budding club, Ihefu SC before he could even kick the ball for the club that lured him to East Africa, Singida Fountain Gate. Mangolo left local champions, Jwaneng Galaxy, upon expiry of his contract in December.

At the time, he was tipped to join Singida where another Motswana, Olebile Sikwane works as the club's chief executive officer. This week, Sikwane confirmed to MmegiSport that the player has since switched to Ihefu SC. "Benson has signed for Ihefu, that is what I know. Of course, I played a pivotal role in assisting them to sign him. He is a brother (to me) and a great prospect; he can fly our flag high here," Sikwane said without divulging more. Ihefu SC are said to have attracted investment from the Middle-East and are keen to flex their financial muscle.

The club is also said to be close to signing legendary Kenyan defender, Josh Onyango also formerly with Singida. Ihefu SC currently sits at position 13 in the 16-team league after 14 matches played. Sikwane could also join Mangolo at Tanzania's freshest and exciting football project. The well-travelled administrator has led Singida's transformation for over a year now and has caught the eyes of onlookers. In the past, Sikwane played a key role in a number of transfers both locally and internationally. He helped Gaborone United's Thatayaone Kgamanyane to South Africa's Chippa United and was also instrumental in Tumisang Orebonye moving from GU to Township Rollers.
