Junior Karate team scoops Gold at WKF Youth League

Botswana junior karate team made history over the weekend, when the young karatekas won a number of medals. Chris Kgosi scooped gold medal in the boys Under-14 male kata and bronze medals were won by Sandra Liu Yushan (junior female kata), Franklin Mohlabi in junior male kumite (-76kg) and Bokao Ranngogo in boys 14-15 years kumite (-63kg).

Leitch Michelle was also on the podium with a bronze medal in the girls Under-14 kumite (-47kg). The team was competing at the World Karate Federation (WKF) Youth League in Harare, Zimbabwe. Kgosi defeated top competitors from Peru, France, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia on her path to secure the gold medal.

Botswana Karate Assocation (BOKA) president, Mpho Bakwadi, told Sport Monitor that the team delivered an outstanding and historic performance at the WKF Youth League.
