Nicholas Woody Jacobs has left Matebele FC to take on the Namibia women national team coaching job. Jacobs was only appointed in August 2023 and guided the team in their maiden appearance in the elite league.

"Matebele Football Club has amicably parted ways with head coach, Nicholas Woody Jacobs. He is joining the Namibian national women's team as head coach," part of the statement from Matebele reads. The well-respected Namibian coach leaves an impressive mark at The Nest as he led the team to five wins from the 12 games played. Under his tutelage, Matebele lost three times while they played to draws on three occasions. The team is among the top scoring teams in the league after finding the back of the net 19 times but also conceded 19 goals. Zimbabwean coach, Elias Chinyemba returns to take over the reigns on an interim basis.

Chinyemba aided Matebele to their maiden Premier League promotion but had to relinquish his position as he lacked necessary Premier League coaching qualifications. The well-travelled coach recently attainted a CAF A license and he will leave the head of development post he has held since the arrival of Jacobs in August. Jacobs is not new to the 'Brave Gladiators' as the Namibia women team is called, as he had stints before as an assistant coach and interim head coach. He was recently linked with a move to Township Rollers but the Namibia Football Association has moved swiftly to secure one of the exciting coaching talents in the country.
