Battle of attrition: GU fell to a shock defeat to Eleven Angels PIC: GABORONE UNITED

Hurting Gaborone United (GU) will enter the Francistown Council Stadium on Saturday with nothing but revenge on their mind as they confront Eleven Angels in an Orange FA Cup last 32 round. Last weekend, the Reds lost 2-1 to the Francistown side in a league tie.

The defeat confirmed GU's worst run of form in over a season. The Orange FA Cup defending champions return to the venue for the second time in just a week. The team has faced a sobering reality in recent weeks after falling steps back in the league championship race as yet another tough assignment awaits them tomorrow afternoon. At the start of the season, the Reds had their eyes on a local football cup double. The quest to savour at least one of those starts tomorrow against Eleven Angels. Pontsho 'Piro' Moloi is chasing his first win as GU's substantive head coach after the weekend's opponents ruined his debut. Moloi is likely to bring changes for the Orange FA Cup tie.

Veteran midfielder, Lesego Galenamotlhale could lead the side this weekend. With a number of talented fringe players at the reigning champions, Moloi could hand a few minutes. Young prospect, Gape Thibedi could make the starting list alongside attacker, Tshepo Malgas. The inclusion of a decorated midfielder in Galenamotlhale would ensure the Reds remain focused on the course. Eleven Angels will be confident but cautious against the champions. GU have proven to be a tough contender as they won the last two editions of the Orange FA Cup. 'Lekgamu La Bananyana' is boosted by their exploits in the last edition of the competition where Eleven Angels reached the last 16 while still campaigning in the First Division. The team's head coach, Seemo '16' Mpatane will look to go a step further in this year's edition.

Don't let FMD outbreak drag on

Acting Agriculture Minister, Edwin Dikoloti, is right in saying opening an export-ready facility whilst Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is still spreading would risk getting the whole country blacklisted before a single carcass leaves the door.A ban like that would break the already stressed nation. So, the postponement, painful as it is, is the right thing to do. The local economy is being squeezed from both ends. FMD has already slammed the door...
