Botswana's pursuit of increased representation in CAF inter-club competitions faces a pivotal moment following Gaborone United's (GU) early exit from the 2025–2026 CAF Champions League.

The Reds were eliminated in the opening round by Tanzanian giants Simba SC, succumbing to a 2–1 aggregate score after a 1–0 home defeat and a 1–1 draw away.

Galaxy advanced to the second preliminary round after overcoming Malawi's Mighty Wanderers in a dramatic penalty shootout.
