Former Zebras coach Tshosane to be laid to rest on Saturday

Former Zebras Coach, Stanley Tshosane who passed away last Friday will be laid to rest in Tati Siding on Saturday.

A memorial service for Botswana's first coach to take the national team, the Zebras, to its first ever Africa Cup of Nations final, will be held at the National Stadium at 2:30pm tomorrow. As tributes continue to pour in for the fallen football hero, President Duma Boko also shared a message of condolences. "President Duma Gideon Boko joins the nation in mourning the passing of former zebras Coach Stanley Tshosane. A true leader, coach Tshosane inspires a generation by leading Botswana to its historic AFCON qualification. A testament to his passion for the game, dedication to youth and commitment to the nation,” a statement from the Office of the President reads.

Minister of Sports and Arts, Jacob Kelebeng also shared his tribute. “I have been deeply moved by the passing of former Zebras coach, Stanley Tshosane. My condolences go out to his family, friends and indeed the entire nation. We can pray the Lord almighty rests his good soul. Stan was a true patriot! He is a true testament of the abilities and talents our people possess. Who can forget that it was during his tenure that we qualified for the AFCON finals, for the first time in our history. We are forever indebted to him for his meritorious service to the sport of football and the country,” Kelebeng said. Bra Stan who was 68, has been described as not only a dedicated family man, but also a national icon in football – having served as both player and coach who handled jobs at clubs that included Matebejane, Gabane United, BDF XI and Mogoditshane Fighters.
