TLOKWENG: Mochudi Centre Chiefs have been drawn with yet another third tier league side, FC Palapye, in the last 16 round of the Orange FA Cup. Chiefs became the last team to book their spot in the last 16 round as they beat Masitaoka 1-0 in a game played at the Royal Aria Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Legend Monyake's first half goal proved the difference in a tie that Chiefs dominated while Masitaoka would have felt they would have some chance. The two teams are miles apart as Masitaoka competes in the Kweneng Region Division 1 League, the third tier league football. The team’s coach, Ofentse Mapeu, has shared insights on preparing to play against a top flight side as he lauded his troops for a brave performance on Sunday afternoon. “It is very tough because when you play the league it is a different approach. Now, coming to face a team like Centre Chiefs, you need to change that approach and introduce another approach. This all had to be done in just a week to prepare for the game. From our point of view we did very well, facing a team that is currently doing well in the Premier League. They are well resourced and have everything above us,” said Mapeu.

On the first minute, Ronaldo Fortune played a low cross for Khumoetsile Kufingwa but the forward's skewed attempt allowed the defense to recover. Magosi followed with a number of chances but Fortune, alongside Monyake and Monty Enosa, failed to score despite coming close. Chiefs eventually got the opener on the 15th minute as Monyake tapped from close range from Brian Tafhi's blocked shot. The minnows had their first chance at goal when Chakalisha Lehuma broke with pace only to be denied by the advancing goalkeeper on the 20th minute. A series of chances followed for Chiefs but were let down by poor finishing. Magosi had a penalty call denied on the 35th minute after Mofokeng was brought down in the box. Against the run of play, Lehuma once again for Masitaoka broke with pace, beat the keeper but was denied by the post with five minutes to half time. Magosi led 1-0 at recess. Just as the teams were heading into the tunnel, the referee cautioned the Masitaoka duo of Ntebogang Mokanapa and Thabo Lesole for spilling a liquid substance into the goalposts. The two were still among the substitutes at the time.

Four minutes into the second half, Fortune teed up Resaobaka Thatanyane but the forward shot straight into the keeper's hands. Fortune missed yet another chance to double Chiefs' lead as he skied his effort from Mofokeng's perfectly placed free kick. With the minnows sitting back, Chiefs’ onslaught attacks could not increase their lead as Magosi took a 1-0 win in to the next round. Magosi are looking to end their 15-year trophy drought and the Orange FA Cup draws have been kind to Kgatleng giants.

Dear gov't, doctors: Ntwakgolo ke ya molomo

With both sides entrenched in legal battles and public spats, the risk to public health, trust in institutions, and the welfare of doctors grows by the day. It's time for cooler heads to prevail. The government and BDU must return to the negotiating table, not with threats, but with a shared commitment to resolve this crisis fairly and urgently. At the heart of this dispute lies a simple truth: doctors aren't just employees but guardians...
