Three Diteemane players are in Durban, South Africa vying for the 2023 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals spots.

Diteemane as the national table tennis team if affectionately known, has called upon top ranked Tshepiso Rebatenne and Tshenolo Mooketsi alongside, Indian based, Phetso Jack. The trio will from tomorrow (Tuesday) to January 15, 2023 compete in the 2023 World Contenders Series tournament. The series is the first of four Contenders Series tournaments. Diteemane will be looking to book a place with other top players for ITTF Table Tennis World Rankings. Through the Contenders Series tournament, the local trio will have a chance to earn points and increase their World Rankings in effort to secure more points to reach the World Championship Finals to be held in May.

“Tshepiso and Tshenolo have earned their places in the team by virtue of being ranked top in the women and men’s local rankings. Phetso on the other hand, is a Zebra Fund athlete so we needed him to maximize those resources. The two players are already in Durban while Phetso will arrive at 3.30pm today (Monday),” Botswana Table Tennis Association’s communication officer, Tshegofatso Malepa told Mmegi Sport. Local umpire, Ritah Sebele will be officiating at the games while Malepa has been selected as one of the tournament’s media liaison officers.
