FRANCISTOWN: Chadibe sank further in the relegation zone following a 3-1 defeat to Morupule Wanderers over the weekend.
The loss left Chadibe with seven points from 16 games, the same number of points with last placed Uniao Flamengo Santos but on a better goal difference. Chadibe will need to pull a Harry Houdini moment, a Hungarian-American illusionist and escapologist who was known as the “Master of Escape” and famous for his daring escape acts, which included handcuffs, straight jackets and being buried alive. Morupule scored a goal from Bonang Theetso's header in the first half. Chadibe came with guns blazing in the second half and equalised through Morris Ruzivo in the 57th minute.
However, the equaliser was short-lived and seemed to have inspired Wanderers as they regained the lead through Theetso again. Kevin Ndebele then put the game beyond Chadibe’s reach when he scored Wanderer’s third goal in the 75th minute. Despite the loss, which was Chadibe’s ninth in the FNB Premiership this season, head coach, Christopher Mwanza, is optimistic that the team may pull up a Houdini stunt. “We are very optimistic that we will survive relegation at the end of the season. We had our chances but our undoing was not converting the chances that we created. We will work hard to bury the chances that we create,” said Mwanza. Meanwhile, Mourupule’s interim coach, Agang Mogotsi, was also optimistic about his team’s chances of finishing in the top eight but regretted lack of converting many chances that his team created. “We are optimistic about winning our upcoming fixtures so that we remain in the top eight, which is our mandate. We will have to fight hard to reach our goal,” said Mogotsi.
