FRANCISTOWN: Following their victory over BR Highlanders, Calendar Stars finished second in the First Division North, earning themselves a spot in the promotional play-off.

Calendar Stars will play Jwaneng Young Stars, who finished second in the First Division South League. Addressing the media, Calendar Stars coach, Joseph Chippa Mokgacha said he led a technical team with players that were committed and striving for victory even during training. He added that they made an effort to maximise their training period in case they experienced any challenging circumstances during the game. “I thought BR Highlanders put a lot of pressure when the game began. We had to soak for the first 15 minutes because they were playing with a diamond in the midfield”, he added.

He said even though BR Highlanders were attacking in numbers, they were able to maintain control of the game after taking a 1-0 lead. Meanwhile, he commended Calendar Stars players for doing everything they could in the training and dressing rooms to earn a spot in the playoffs. Mokgacha stated that they would require the resources and be prepared in terms of playing personnel if they were to be promoted to the Premier League. “From my perspective, our goal was to win so that we could advance to the playoffs. It is now up to the management for the next move if we win the playoffs. Considering the teams that are promoted and subsequently demoted, resources are desperately needed for the BPL,” he added.
