The CAF executive committee will convene a virtual meeting tomorrow to, amongst others, receive a report from the Independent Assessment Committee concerning the bids for hosting the 2025 and 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
A three-member committee conducted an assessment of Botswana's preparedness to host the 2027 AFCON finals last month. The decision regarding the host nations for the 2025 and 2027 finals remains uncertain, although an announcement is expected later this month.
Botswana competes with a joint bid from Nigeria and Benin, as well as bids from Senegal, Algeria, and a collaborative endeavour from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania to host the 2027 competition.
The Botswana Football Association (BFA) president Maclean Letshwiti, a CAF executive member, will be in attendance at tomorrow's meeting. Additionally, the meeting's agenda encompasses updates on the progress made towards hosting the 2023 AFCON finals in Ivory Coast, the secretary-general's report on the commencement of the CAF Super League scheduled for the following month, and beIN's outstanding obligations to CAF for broadcasting rights, which is overdue.
