Botswana's athletics team due to participate at this weekend's World Relays in Guangzhou, China has been hit by shock withdrawals of three key members, including Olympic champion, Letsile Tebogo.

The Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) in a statement released this evening said Tebogo, Collen Kebinatshipi and Bayapo Ndori have withdrawn from the team citing personal reasons.

"We regret to inform you that three of our men’s 4x400 metres relay team members, namely Letsile Tebogo, Collen Kebinatshipi and Bayapo Ndori have officially withdrawn from the team for personal reasons," the statement reads.

"The Botswana Athletics Association Board has unanimously agreed that the trio be withdrawn as per their request.

The nation must rest assured that the remaining team members will do their best and must rally behind the team as always," the BAA added. It is a body blow for Botswana's to defend their 4x400m crown won in Bahamas last year.
