The Botswana Football League (BFL) has defended a decision to deduct a certain percentage of the club's grants to fund operations at the secretariat.

On September 25, BFL chairperson, Sipho Showa, wrote to the 16 clubs' shareholders, indicating that a decision had been taken to deduct P30,000 from P200,000 due to each side.

The move was necessitated by the financial situation at the BFL, and the amount deducted went towards running the league office.
