Kicked out: Bathai

Former Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) president, Tshepho Bathai has been kicked out of karate permanently.

The decision was taken during the ongoing BOKA Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) at Lekidi Centre. Moving the motion, Eileen Alberts Herbst said Bathai has brought karate into disrepute and tarnished the image of the Association. She was supported by Ofentse Bakwadi of Hayashi-Ha. For his part, Bakwadi said the expulsion does not mean investigations on maladministration against the former president, will be abandoned. "Law enforcement officers will continue with investigations in order to recover the money. He must pay back the money," he said. Meanwhile, the meeting has resolved to reinstate previously suspended karate style, Shukokai Union.

The Federation was expelled by the former executive committee. Speaking during the OGM, interim president Mpho Bakwadi informed the members that Shukokai's file was recovered at the Registrar of Societies. He said procedure was not followed when the Federation was expelled. Eileen Alberts Herbst had moved that Shukokai should be reinstated, which was approved by the meeting.
