Vultures in Zambia for sevens tournament

Botswana's national sevens rugby side, the Vultures is in Zambia for the Castle Seven's tournament, which kicks off tomorrow.

The team left the country on Wednesday night and will return on Monday after their last game on Sunday in Lusaka. The players in the team come from clubs that participated in the just ended local sevens tournaments. They include Conrad Ntshebe from EMG Gunners, UB Rhinos' Biki Mawela, Gabz Hogs' Thabo Maundeni and Kaone Gopolang of BDF Cheetahs.

Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) development manager, Zilwele Khumalo said the Lusaka tournament is one of the biggest events on the rugby calendar in Africa. He said players in the national team were selected after the conclusion of the BRU league and the sevens tournament in Gaborone. "A total of 24 players have been short-listed to represent the country in a set of two teams," he said.
