Premier League players have been warned against playing in the festive football tournaments. It has been a trend over the years that players contracted to elite league participate in the esteemed tournaments across the country.

However, authorities this time around are prepared to take action against players who go against the practice.  Gaborone United (GU) this week instructed its players not to take part in the festive tournaments whilst promising disciplinary action against those who may default. 

“We do not want any of our players to play in festive tournaments because they need to rest,” said a statement from the club.
