Schools cricket on course despite strike, says BCA

The Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) development programme for government primary schools has continued to grow despite the public service workers' strike, the cricket boss has said.

BCA chief executive officer (CEO) Girish Ramakrishna said in Gaborone yesterday that they have recently incorporated five new schools from Lobatse, bringing the total number of schools on the programme to 123.

He said that the programme currently has approximately 6,500 children across Botswana participating and the intention is to expand it to accommodate all government primary schools. Ramakrishna admitted that the strike had affected them, as they could not host some crucial tournaments and leagues.
