Rollers, GU to clash in Mascom Top 8 - again
Wednesday, March 20, 2013
The two giants were drawn together again yesterday in one of the most anticipated football events this season in Gaborone. The two traditional rivals clashed in the same stage of the competition last season with Rollers progressing to the finals via a 4-2 aggregate victory. The first leg ended 2-1 in favour of Rollers who were the visiting team. Mogakolodi Ngele scored both goals for Rollers after Ofentse Nato had put GU in front. (Both Nato and Ngele are now playing in South Africa). The second leg also ended 2-1 with Phenyo Molefe and Ngele scoring for Rollers and Kgololo Leteane replying for GU.
But much has changed since then as both sides are now under the tutelage of new mentors. Rollers had then roped in Mike Sithole on a temporary basis while Makhwengwe headed GU's technical team on the same arrangement. GU seem to have finally found the formula to stop Rollers who have dominated them in the past few seasons. They registered a victory in the first round of the league campaign this season and played to a 1-1 draw in the second round match.
