Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) 2009 presidential candidate, Solly Reikeletseng, has said his reign will mark a new beginning for the country's sport. Should he be elected to the BNSC post, Reikeletseng has promised to completely restructure the organisation by getting rid of old and outdated policies.

He said that to achieve this goal, he will improve the strained working relations between BNOC and the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC). "For sport to press forward in Botswana, the BNOC and the BNSC must work together to effectively utilise the minimum resources available to sport," he said.

He stated that he will take into consideration emerging issues like alcohol abuse, HIV/AIDS, people living with disability, women in sport, technology and unemployment. "I will also take into consideration the role of each major player in sport to ensure the Sport Vision 2012 becomes a reality," he said. Reikeletseng said the government should stop investing a lot of money in building sports facilities because the country has enough. "It is time for the government to start investing its money in athletes.
