Police topple Spartans

Spartans' title charge was checked at the weekend when they lost their first match in the second round of the basketball league to Troopers at the University of Botswana (UB).

The 52-61 loss has seen the frontrunners drop to second spot behind new leaders, Police who beat NIIT and Cadets 41-18 and 65-47 respectively.

Spartans' coach, Roy Sikwila blamed the loss on a poor performance in the first quarter. He said that his players were complacent in the first quarter and focused mostly on passing and not scoring. "The players were not in the game in the first quarter, but in the second and third quarter, they made a come back but unfortunately, it was too late," he explained.
