Police IX sides posted emphatic victories over visiting BCM in Shell Softball League matches on Saturday. Police IX men side thrashed their bottom-placed BMC opponents 11-1 while the mercy rule saved BMC women after they were mauled 8-0 at the start of the top five inning.

The mercy rule is the limit put on the amount of runs scored that automatically ends a game. At 7-0 in the fifth inning, Police had already sealed a win.

But the visitors will take solace in the fact that their second leg defeat was lesser than the first. In the first leg, visiting Police thumped BMC 23-0 with runs scored in the first three innings in Lobatse. And on Saturday, they started off strongly to post another emphatic victory.
