Oremeng leaves TASC

Former Tasc captain and first-choice goalkeeper Patrick Oremeng has joined ambitious second division side Tonota Football Club.

When his move was first announced on Radio Botswana's morning programme, Masa-a-sele, on Wednesday, many soccer fans were startled by his decision, probably the most sensational move of the current transfer window. It is not common for a Premier League player to drop from the elite league to district football especially if he needs top action.

In an interview yesterday, the experienced goalie, who is good at saving penalties, said Francistown's Premier League giants Tafic had earlier shown interest in signing him but the "Reds" did not follow the right procedure. He said his move to Tonota FC is not a step in the wilderness but a move in the right direction. A goalkeeper coach, Oremeng said he wants to help Tonota clinch First Division promotion. "I am going there to play and coach up-coming goalkeepers," he told Mmegi Sport.
